Our Non-Profit Status

Care Initiatives is a non-profit organization. Our earnings are reinvested in team member education, and our locations. In addition, earnings may be reinvested in the development of new facilities or new care programs.

Since 1989, Care Initiatives has reinvested millions of dollars into our teams, our locations and the communities we serve.

  • Since 2000, we have rebuilt 14 locations and renovated or added on to three additional locations.
  • Increased specialty services such as private rooms and enhanced therapy services and space.
  • Enhanced our employee recognition programs.
  • We contract over 100 therapists to provide physical, occupational, and speech rehabilitation services to our residents and communities.

Our History

Created in 1989, Care Initiatives is the largest single operator of quality skilled nursing locations in Iowa. Today, Care Initiatives operates a total of 43 skilled nursing care locations, two assisted living locations, nine independent living locations, and eight hospice office locations. In 2024, Care Initiatives ventured outside the state of Iowa and opened Care Initiatives Hospice in Omaha, Neb.
