Chariton Specialty Care has a lot of good things going for those in need of skilled nursing care. Whether your stay with us is short-term to rehabilitate from injury or illness before returning home, or longer term taking up residency in our large, comfortable recently remodeled rooms, there is much to appreciate.
Located next to the Lucas County Health Center, our physicians’ clinic is nearby. This provides easy access for residents as well as the residents' care team which works with doctors to develop a tailored care plan to maximize health and comfort.
Our professional nursing staff and aides demonstrate a real willingness and desire to provide the highest quality of care and compassion. Some of our nurses have been here for 20 or more years. Therapeutic professionals visit with residents daily and our state-of-the-art equipment tracks progress and sets goals guiding the team on route to recovery.
Chariton Specialty Care has an active community volunteer program. Coordinated by a staff member at the Lucas County Health Center, our home is rarely without helpers willing to pitch in and lend a hand so every resident is able to join in any activity.
Staying active and involved in interests and hobbies is equally important to overall health and happiness. Chariton Specialty Care offers a wide variety of internal activities as well as those involving family and members of the greater Chariton community. Daily there is exercise time, game time, and a variety of small groups to participate in such as Poetry Circle when volunteers come in to read favored poems and short stories. Movie night is every Saturday. Family game night and a monthly birthday party feature entertainers from around Chariton. Seasonal parties bring in Easter egg hunters in spring, costumed kids in October, carolers in
December and many others throughout the year.
