I just can't say enough about the team at Care Initiatives Hospice-Manchester. April of 2023 is actually when my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's and unfortunately his progressed very fast. By January of 2024 he was using a walker. We had an appt. with his doctor in January and the next day his nurse coordinator called about getting a hospital bed but also wondered if we would consider hospice. At the time I said no, thinking as many do, that hospice is only for those near death. But she explained all the things that hospice could do to help us.
She said if I changed my mind to call her. After a very bad week of him falling and other things I called her back and said I was ready for some help. She gave me the phone number for Care Initiatives Hospice out of Manchester, and that phone call I made was the best decision I ever made. On February 9th Angie Kramer and some of the team came out, introduced themselves, evaluated Ed, and told me all that they could help us with. From getting us a hospital bed, furnishing pads for the bed, depends, soaps and lotions and anything we needed. When Ed was unable to get in and out of bed they were able to get us a Hoyer lift and that was a lifesaver. The RN, Trisha, and aide Angie, that came to give him a bath(which was a great help) came out twice a week to start with and as things progressed the last two weeks they came out three times a week. Angie explained everything she was doing as she did it and even shaved him when she came out. We also had a Massage Therapist that came every so often, a Spiritual Counselor that came once a month, and a Volunteer that would come once a week to give me a break so if I had any appt., grocery shopping, or just go out for dinner there was someone to stay with Ed. Everyone was so helpful, caring, and respectful of our family. And as things progressed they explained what to expect and always said they were just a phone call away. Because of all these team members I was able to keep Ed at home until his passing on April 19. Since he has passed, the volunteer who stayed with Ed when I needed to be gone, Angel(and she truly is one) has come out once a month to visit and just see how I am doing, which means a lot to me. So they are not only there for your loved one but also for the family. We only had Care Initiatives for 2 months but they were such a great help for Ed and myself. If you think you are in need of hospice, don't wait until it's the last few weeks or months because they can do so much to help you. And the Care Initiatives Hospice out of Manchester is the best. Just don't have enough words to express our family's gratitude to them. Love them all.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the
entire team at Care Initiatives for the exceptional experience. My dad moved in with my family in a very fragile state on December 26,2023, and I had the privilege of being by his side for 18 days before he passed. Throughout this emotional and challenging time, I
had the opportunity to interact with various members of the Care Initiatives team, and their kindness, respect, remarkable competence, and
exceptional communication skills left a lasting impression. They were not only attentive to my dad's needs but also provided unwavering support to my family. I am deeply grateful for the outstanding care and support that Care Initiatives provides, which undoubtedly
represents the pinnacle of hospice care. Thank you to everyone that came into my home. All of you are true angels!

On July 6th, 2023 I called Care Initiatives Hospice – Manchester location, after learning that my step-mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. The diagnosis was terminal, and she was given 6 months – 1 year to live. Just one day prior to my July 6th call to Care Initiatives Hospice – Manchester location, my stepmom fell and broke her right arm (she was right-handed). So, having a broken arm really increased the need and urgency of our family’s need for help from the Hospice program.
During that call, I spoke to Angie Kramer to gain an understanding of what it took to enroll in Hospice Care. From that point on, each and every Care Initiatives Hospice – Manchester representative, that we worked with, went well above and beyond to help us with every question and/or concern we had; even if it was something that was not part of Hospice care. From coming to our home to discuss what Hospice care was about & what it has to offer, to one of the representatives staying late and being present the night that my step-mom passed away. I just cannot say enough about their compassionate care and genuine concern in helping us get through each step along the way; during the very short time we had left with our loved one.
I want to thank the following people specifically, for their outstanding care and overwhelming love during this difficult time:

    Angie Kramer - Community representative
Teresa Tibbott - Main nurse case manager (admission to program)
Wendy Smith – On Call nurse and stayed late with us the night my step-mom passed
    Hope Milbach - Aid
    Amy Peyton - Social Worker
Mike Timmerman - Spiritual Care Counselor

Unfortunately, the 6months – 1 year diagnosis ended with my step-mom passing away on July 22, 2023; just over 2 weeks after I initiated my first conversation with Care Initiatives Hospice – Manchester. However, even still, all of the Care Initiatives Hospice – Manchester representatives are still fully engaged and quick to help when we have questions even after her passing; with the same kindness as before her passing.
There are just no words to show our gratitude toward Care Initiatives Hospice – Manchester and the services they offer. We HIGHLY recommend reaching out to this team as soon as you receive a terminal cancer diagnosis. The opportunities offered in helping a family and patient to live their best life, after diagnosis, are tremendous. Contacting them early in the diagnosis, even just to obtain information about the program, made a HUGE difference in our lives. But, the PEOPLE on THIS team, and that make THIS Hospice location successful, are PRICELESS.
