{Des Moines, Iowa, May 17, 2022} – Care Initiatives launches CNA Mentorship Program.

Care Initiatives has launched a 12-location pilot program for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) staff development. The CNA Mentorship Program is designed to give newly-hired CNAs a consistent point of contact from orientation through their initial six months of their employment. The program will include orientation, training, and professional mentoring by an experienced CNA selected by facility leadership to serve as a mentor.

Care Initiatives’ hope is to guide and engage all newly-hired CNAs by providing them hands-on training from experienced Care Initiatives professionals. “The program is designed to help the new employee gain confidence in their new position and make their work experience more satisfying,” said Tami Larson, Training and Development Manager.

In addition to mentoring CNAs, the program also gives experienced CNAs a leadership opportunity within their facility, which in turn will make them attractive candidates for advancement opportunities.  Larson adds, “CNA mentors will play an intricate part in reducing staff turnover, boosting morale, and increasing the quality of care to our residents.”

Care Initiatives will select mentors using an internal application process. CNA mentors must be certified, have at least six months of experience, and demonstrate strong leadership qualities.
