Southern Hills Specialty Care puts emphasis in the word ‘specialty’. In our state-of-the-art facility, we understand that each person who stays with us is unique and every care plan is tailored to fit their individual needs. Our team of healthcare professionals are well-educated and trained certified nurses’ assistants, RNs, LPNs, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and social services. Our collective goal is to help patients recuperate and regain as much functionality as possible in a warm, inviting, comfortable setting.
Caring for the area’s elderly since 1968, Southern Hills constructed our current building 2009. As a result, Southern Hills is equipped to provide care for very complex health issues. One wing is dedicated to memory care and features a Snoezelen room, a space specially designed to deliver soothing, relaxing stimuli to various senses, using lighting effects, color, sounds, music and scents. We also are able to provide exceptional care for bariatric patients providing for their complex medical needs in a comfortable and dignified setting.
Situated on the northern edge of Osceola, residents enjoy the rural-like peacefulness on days for just relaxing. Beautiful courtyards with walking paths are frequently visited in the warmer months, and residents often help with gardening. Several common areas or living rooms are located throughout the facility for family gatherings. Daily activities are driven by the requests of the residents to fit their personal interests and hobbies. We frequently host entertainers, school groups and civic groups for Bingo and other entertainment events. Cooking or baking, playing cards, learning a new craft are a few ways we like to spend time socializing. Holiday parties, grilling out and trips to the store are regular occurrences. A few times each year, we like to take trips to an ICubs game, fishing, the county fair, museums or just enjoying the Iowa countryside. Church services are available onsite with most denominations represented to fulfill the spiritual needs of our residents.
Staff are often spotted in the community visiting the senior center, offering blood pressure clinics and other services.
