Local CNA Chosen for Care Initiatives’ Be Kind and Honest Award
Marsky Cano, a certified nursing assistant (CAN) at Crestview Specialty Care in West Branch received the 2018 Be Kind and Honest Award at Care Initiatives annual awards brunch Friday, Dec. 7 in West Des Moines.
Cano joined Crestview Specialty Care in 2017 and has made a positive impression on residents and coworkers alike. “His kind, consistent approach to carehas been remarked on regularly by his coworkers and others,” said Administrator Cheryl Mercer. “One of our residents who had a 40-year career in nursing called me to her room to specifically tell me what a wonderful CNA he is. That’s very high praise from a very informed person.”
“Marsky also extends his kindness to the other staff,” Mercer adds. “He often comes in early or picks up extra shifts, and everyone appreciates his steady temperament and true concern for all others.”
“Marsky is the living embodiment of our Be Kind and Honest core value,” Mercer says. “He does what he does so well because he respects our frail and elder citizens who deserve the best he can give them.”
The Be Kind and Honest Award is one of six Core Value Awards given to a nominated employee throughout the statewide organization of 3,000+ employees.
