Two Care Initiatives Hospice - Cedar Rapids volunteers earn statewide accolades
September, 2019 – Ginny Dowell and Tom McKee, both of Cedar Rapids, recently received honors at the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa (HPCAI) Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. Their dedication and commitment as volunteers with Care Initiatives Hospice has brought hours of dedicated compassion to dozens of area families.
After experiencing how hospice helps first-hand, Ginny Dowell decided she wanted to give back. “Ginny has been a dedicated volunteer for the past two years,” said Volunteer Coordinator Cindi McKee. “Her willingness to assist in several areas really supports our patients and staff.”
Tom McKee, a retired director of volunteer services with Salvation Army, knows the value that volunteers bring. “With his time in hospice, he very much enjoys meeting patients and their families and hearing their stories,” Cindi McKee said.
Care Initiatives Hospice is always accepting compassionate volunteers to help visit with patient and family visits, help with special projects for patients, or to help in the hospice office in Cedar Rapids.
