About
La Porte City Specialty Care is set amidst 13 acres of rolling hills and evergreen trees on the northwest edge of La Porte City, 10 miles southeast of Waterloo and 40 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids.
Having provided service to the community since 1966, our beautiful, building opened in August 2004, and boasts a unique warm, woodsy lodge décor with many elements from the outdoors. “La Porte Lodge,” as it is often referred to, looks to some like a mountain resort for a weekend getaway.
Our highly-trained, professional nursing staff provides a level of care beyond compare. Residents can be seen by one of two local physicians as well as nearby urban physicians to provide the highest level of care possible. Our rehabilitation services, which are also offered on an outpatient basis to community members, include physical, occupational and speech therapists. This ensures a comprehensive, customized plan of care for each individual.
We take pride in the many successes we have had in assisting residents in their recovery from illness or injury. We share their goal of returning to a more independent lifestyle which, many times, includes returning home. The nurses and therapists coordinate care to assist orthopedic and stroke patients to reach their highest level of function. The outpatient services focus on helping each patient to regain function through therapy exercises and treatment.
La Porte City Specialty Care is a 46-bed skilled nursing facility offering rehabilitation services, skilled nursing care, long term care and hospice care. We are a part of Care Initiatives, Iowa’s largest not-for-profit skilled nursing and long term care provider. LaPorte City Specialty Care accepts Medicare and Medicaid.
